About Us

Founded on August 15, 2008, the Green Coalition is a grassroots environmental nonprofit based in Hemet, California, serving the greater San Jacinto Valley. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to create a sustainable community for the San Jacinto Valley.
To us, sustainability means more than just protecting the environment—it means building a community where ecological, economic, and social needs are all balanced for the health and wellbeing of both present and future generations. We believe that a clean, healthy, and safe environment is a right, not a privilege, and that lasting change starts from the ground up—with neighbors working together.
What We Do
We take action across a wide range of issues that impact our community’s future:
- Anti-Warehouse Advocacy: We stand against harmful industrial overdevelopment and speak out at city council meetings to protect our valley from pollution, traffic, and environmental degradation.
- Bike Friendly Communities: We push for safer, more sustainable transportation infrastructure that benefits both people and the planet.
- Food Accessibility: We work to improve food equity and ensure that all residents—especially those in underserved areas—have access to fresh, healthy food.
- Environmental Planting & Greening Projects: From tree planting to habitat restoration, we’re creating greener spaces for all to enjoy.
- Environmental Education: We believe in the power of knowledge. That’s why we provide educational resources, workshops, and events to help people better understand their environment and how to care for it.
- Public Outreach: Whether it's at community events, local schools, or city meetings, we’re always working to raise awareness and empower others to get involved.
Why It Matters
The San Jacinto Valley is our home—and we are committed to defending it. As warehouses sprawl and climate challenges grow, our work is more urgent than ever. The Green Coalition is powered by residents who care deeply and act boldly. Together, we are shaping a more resilient and just future.
